God of War is game van het jaar bij The Game Awards

Daarmee versloeg de game andere spellen zoals Red Dead Redemption 2, A a in's Creed Ody ey en Monster Hunter: World. God of War won ook awards voor beste game direction en beste actie-adventuregame.

Red Dead Redemption 2 viel wel in de prijzen voor het beste verhaal, beste audiodesign en beste muziek. Roger Clark won een award voor zijn vertolking van Arthur Morgan in de westerngame.

Ook Fortnite won diverse awards, waaronder de awards voor beste 'ongoing game' (spellen die nu nog geüpdatet worden) en beste multiplayergame. Indiegames vielen ook in de prijzen. Zo won Celeste de awards voor beste indiegame en de game die de meeste impact heeft gemaakt, Dead Cells de award voor beste actiegame en Overcooked! 2 de award voor beste familiegame.
