Waar mensen uit de Benelux in het geval van World of Warcraft na het pre-orderen geen key ontvingen om deel te nemen aan de Europese beta, lijken toekomstige spelers van de MMORPG City of Heroes het iets beter te treffen. Ontwikkelaar NCsoft heeft namelijk een exclusief verkoopcontract afgesloten met Bol.com, dat inhoudt dat mensen uit de Benelux die de Deluxe editie van City of Heroes bestellen hierbij een VIP uitnodiging voor de Europese beta fase ontvangen. Deze fase begon rond kerst, en zal nog doorlopen tot 4 februari, wanneer de game gereleased wordt.Gamers in Benelux have reason to rejoice as NCsoft™ Europe announces an exclusive retail partnership with BOL.com. Customers who pre-order the award-winning City of Heroes™ Deluxe edition via BOL.com in the next week will receive a VIP invitation to participate in the European Beta event which kicked off at Christmas and will run through until release on 4th February 2005.

Deze Deluxe editie zal overigens goed gevuld zijn, met onder andere de drie content updates, een stripboek over City of Heroes, en codes voor enkele unieke in-game items. Naast de mogelijkheid om met een creditcard te betalen zullen er overigens ook Game Time Cards verkocht worden, waarmee spelers voor €25.99 gedurende 60 dagen de game kunnen spelen.
