Activion heeft een persbericht de wereld in gestuurd waarin wordt gemeld dat er een nieuw deel in de Tony Hawk serie komt. Deze keer kan de speler gaan skaten in Middleton, Rhode Island, Rio, Los Angeles, Canada, Tokio en Parijs.
Het spel zal voor bijna alle populaire platformen verschijnen, namelijk de Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance, PC, X-Box, Playstation en Gameboy Color. Alleen een Dreamcast versie ontbreekt.
Verder zal de game een hele berg skaters herbergen waaronder (uiteraard )Tony Hawk en verder Bam Margera, Steve Caballero en Rune Glifberg.
Naast nieuwe skaters en nieuwe levels zullen spelers ook hun eigen idolen verder kunnen aanpa en door middel van tatoo's en armbanden. Ook zal er meer aandacht aan multiplayer worden besteed, al is hier verder niks over bekend.

Fluid animations let gamers pull off hundreds of combo moves and tricks including nollies, manuals and lip tricks using the franchise's signature solid control scheme.
Elevating the game's overall excitement, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 delivers a star-studded lineup of skateboarding pros that join Tony Hawk including new-to-the-roster Bam Margera of "MTV Jacka " fame, and returning riders Steve Caballero, Rune Glifberg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Eli a Steamer and Jamie Thomas. Additionally, fans can create their own skateboarding idols and personalize their skaters with gla es, hair, armbands and tattoos. The game 's expanded multi-player modes increase re-playability for the ultimate in skateboarding fun.
