"Wat Counter-Strike kan, kunnen wij natuurlijk ook" moeten de mensen van Infogrames en Kamehan Studios hebben gedacht toen ze besloten Unreal Tournament's Tactical Ops een commerciele versie te geven.

Net zoals de populaire Half-Life MOD heeft de commerciele versie van Tactical Ops ook wat veranderingen ondergaan, waaronder de wijziging in de interface. Daarnaast zijn er nieuwe textures en verbeterde models in het spel te vinden.

There are over 30 levels in the retail version with a lot of variations from a Wild West style setting to a federal office building to a sub out in the middle of the ocean. Mi ions range from hostage rescues, preventing the terrorists team from blowing up locations, retrieving items, and lots more. The end result is that there is a ton of variety that will keep players occupied for quite a while, even for those players who already have installed the UT mod version.

De retail en gratis versie verschillen uiteindelijk dus behoorlijk wat. Hiermee lijkt Kamehan Studios een beetje af te willen van de gratis MOD en deze vooral te gebruiken als techtest.
