We're letting authenticity be our guide here. We're not going to load up on curse words for the sake of it, but when Marines see a buddy get shot, they're apt to swear. We've gone through a lot of period accounts to try to get accurate language, and we feel our level of profanity is consistent with what you'd hear on the actual battlefield. The major exception we've made is with racial slurs - the perception of what is reasonable has changed a bit since 1965 to the point at which some commonly used and unremarkable phrases of the period would now be considered extremely offensive.
