The Inkvine catapult, named for the creeping plants native to Giedi Prime, is a fairly recent edition to the Harkonnen arsenal. Although the slave whips fashioned from the plant's vines had been a standard Harkonnen torture device for millennia, the technology needed to augment the toxicity and employ the viscous fluid in warfare had all but escaped scientists. It wasn't until Rakan reached power that Harkonnen scientists and botanists were 'encouraged' by the Baron's top generals to promptly devise a method to bombard the opposition with projectiles filled with Inkvine juice. Thus, hearkening back to Earth's Dark Ages, the Inkvine Catapult was born.
