Op FGnOnline is te lezen dat de opvolger van Shogun: Total war een andere naam gaat krijgen. Het spel zal nu uitgebracht worden onder de naam Medieval: Total War.

De oorspronkelijke titel van de game Crusader Total War is volgens de makers veranderd omdat de oude titel toch niet de gehele scoop van het product helemaal omvat, het spel gaat namelijk ook over de rest van de middeleeuwen. Een wat logischer idee over de naamswijziging is dat de naam op dit moment een beetje gevoelig ligt, de VS is namelijk bezig met een kruistocht (heilige oorlog) tegen terroristen. He continued, "When people hear the word Crusader their first impre ion is that the game must be specifically about the wars in the Holy Land between the 11th and 13th Century. However the Crusades are only a small part of Medieval: Total War. The game actually covers the entire medieval world from the 11th to the 15th Century. That's 400 years of brutal conflict that includes loads of fascinating characters, nations and events that had little or nothing to do with the Crusades; from warriors such as William Wallace (Braveheart), Joan of Arc, The Black Prince and Kublai Khan to characters like Robin Hood and Marco Polo."
