WRE heeft een preview geschreven van de Indrema L600. Deze Console draait op het open Source operating system Linux. We hebben al eerder bericht over deze console, inclusief een wazig plaatje. WRE heeft nieuwere versies plaatjes. Deze PC, want dat is het meer, is zelfs te upgraden door nieuwe GPU's. Verder zit er een modem bij, en een ethernet port voor xDSL mogelijkheden en andere broadband diensten. Ook zijn keyboard en muis optioneel. Uiteraard heeft ook deze console een DVD speler. Games are the thing, though - and Indrema's planning to have a lot of them. The company says it anticipates approximately 30 titles will launch with the system and says it has quietly been talking to developers to boost that number. Because of the open-source platform, independent and amateur developers are being encouraged to contribute mods and titles. To protect quality control, though, all software products for the L600 will have to pa Indrema's certification program. (Freeware games will not require the standard fee, though.)

Linux, while it's spreading rapidly, is still an underdog. And Indrema's chances of making a dent in the console marketplace, given the upcoming competition, are admittedly slim. The company's charging headlong into battle, neverthele . And that attitude is earning respect and admiration from a growing corner of the gaming world.

De specs lijken erg op die van de X-Box overigens...Verder vraag ik me af wat het verschil tu en 'console' en 'PC' is op het moment. Zodra je je TV-out gebruikt wordt je PC een console?
