1 van de meest beste RTS-spellen van de afgelopen jaren krijgt een nieuw hoofdstuk genaamd Homeworld: Cataclysm. Sierra Studios, Relic Entertainment and Barking Dog Studios unveiled today at the Milia trade show in Cannes, France, a new chapter in the real-time strategy series - Homeworld. Created by Canadian-based Barking Dog Studios, Homeworld: Cataclysm, scheduled for summer 2000 release, is the next evolution of the acclaimed Homeworld universe. "We've worked closely with Barking Dog in the past and are confident they'll be able to creatively expand the Homeworld universe," said Alex Garden, CEO of Relic Entertainment. "Homeworld: Cataclysm is poised to stand on its own with a new, darker storyline, more original missions, and new gameplay features."

"We believe Barking Dog Studios has the talent and experience to make a significant contribution to the Homeworld franchise," said Mark Hood, senior vice president of Sierra Studios. "Taking the original concept even further, they're presenting gamers with different types of challenges and offering yet another fresh 3D experience."

Homeworld: Cataclysm extends Homeworld's gameplay with entirely new fleets of ships, each with the ability to upgrade their capabilities, new research, fog-of-war, interface enhancements, mothership modules, damage control and way points.
