Uitgever Eidos heeft een nieuwe licentie weten te bemachtigen. Deze worstel licentie is dit maal niet van de WCW of WWF/WWE, maar van het Backyard Wrestling Inc. Backyard Wrestling bestaat nu nog uit een serie videobanden waarop amateurworstelaars in hun eigen omgeving een ring nabouwen. In deze ring halen ze de meest stomme acties uit waarbij het regelmatig fout gaat.

Waar WCW/WWF worstelaars getraind zijn en weten wat ze doen, geldt dat niet voor deze amateurs.Backyard Wrestling videotapes depict the actions of amateur grapplers, who, in hastily thrown together rings, perform over-the-top, injury-risking maneuvers on each other. The organization boasts leagues in all 50 states and is currently active in the pay-per-view arena as well.

“We will continue to push the envelope of today's games with such acquisitions,” said Kevin Gill, senior product manager at Eidos.

Wat Eidos precies gaat doen met de licentie is nog niet bekend gemaakt.
