Op Homefedlan is een korte preview verschenen van Freedom Force, de tactical RPG van Irrational Games welke nu al wordt gezien als 1 van de topgames van 2002.

In de game maak je je eigen superhero en moet je de "gebruikelijke" superhero dingen gaan doen. Mensen redden, boeven stoppen en dat alles in een compleet verwoestbare stad. Naast een uitgebreide singleplayer mode wordt er ook veel aandacht besteed aan multiplayer en aan de modmakers, allebei zaken die de levensduur van de titel positief beinvloeden.

The single player campaign begins with a tutorial level that also serves to move the story forward. You witne the origin of the Captain America-inspired hero Minuteman and then control him as he goes after the bad guys. The game's graphics immediately suggest a comic book flavor with its bright primary color scheme and cartoonish art style. You can even see comic book sound effects and balloons as you battle your foes. As you progre in the game you meet up with other super hero members. You can control up to four at a time as you deal with thugs and other minions of villains like the Cold War era inspired bad guy Nuclear Winter (OK so the term Nuclear Winter was first coined in the 1980's but let's not nickpick). The default point of view is an over the top third person perspective but you can switch the camera to a behind the head third person view as well. The latter viewpoint is an excellent way to check out the game's detailed 3D character models. Again, the models in Freedom Force suggest Kirby-style heroes and it's a treat to see such super heroes emerge from the 2D world of comics to a full 3D world in a PC game.

Homefedlan is zeer te spreken over Freedom Force, gelukkig hoeven we niet lang meer te wachten want de titel wordt eind maart verwacht.
