Counter-Strike works with a big audience because it's accessible at both low and high levels. The difference between a hardcore, 8-hour-a-day Counter-Strike player and a naturally talented gamer who plays CS every couple days isn't big. Anyone can become decent at Counter-Strike, and almost everyone can become good. There are far more "great" Counter-Strike players than there are Quake 3 greats, simply because the learning curve of CS isn't nearly as high.
When an average joe Q3 team watches Clan Kapitol play, they say "we can't do that."
When an average joe CS team watches Clan Killers 3 play, they say "if we just work on our strat a little bit, we can so do that."
I've only been playing Counter-Strike for a month and a half, but sometimes I'll hop on a server with a really hardcore clanmate and I'll out-ratio him. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. If those same clanmates - who play Q3 as casually as I play CS - were to play in a Q3 game with me, it'd be total ownership. No one on the server would doubt I was the better player.Ik ben in ieder geval nog steeds niet op CS uitgekeken .
