AVault benaderde de hoofd designer van het spel en ontving:The decision to target multiple categories of gamers has had much more impact than we'd originally anticipated: It's caused the game world to become a much larger place than we'd planned and resulted in quite an interesting character development system. In addition to the usual statistics like experience points, strength and dexterity, you will have 96 skills from which to choose, with each skill containing multiple levels. (...)

The way the system is set up really allows you to play Divinity either as a hack 'n slash game or as a true RPG. (...)

Focussing on different playing styles has also had quite an impact on the size of the game. It's not trivial to have a deep, intriguing storyline that at the same time appeals to the hack 'n slash player, but I think we're managing. Development-wise, we have to restrain ourselves from attempting to put in so much detail that we would be unable to finish the game.
