Al sinds 1996 wachten de fans van de turn-based strategyreeks Lords of the Realm tot er eindelijk een opvolger komt. Eind dit jaar is het dan eindelijk zo ver en zal Impre ions (Caesar, Pharaoh) met Lords of the Realm III op de proppen komen. Opvallend is dat men dit keer de overstap heeft gemaakt van het voor de reeks kenmerkende turn-based naar een real-time spelomgeving.

Om het strategische gehalte van het spel te bewaren heeft men er echter wel voor gekozen om de pacing van het spel vrij laag te houden, zodat je ruim te tijd krijgt je manier van aanvallen te overdenken. Zomaar domweg het kasteel van je tegenstander aanvallen zit er dan ook niet bij. Ook op het gebied van resource management poogt men zich te onderscheiden van de standaard RTS en wel op onderstaande wijze:Va als come in three broadly different categories. Players can choose to hire knights, burghers, or clergymen. Each va al is responsible for running a particular section of your country. Burghers produce money and mercenaries by creating towns; clergymen enhance your Christianity rating; and knights, of course, are the guys who do your fighting on the tactical battlefield. Each knight carries with them a retinue of men, a small force at first, but one that grows larger with the pa age of time. Choosing a knight will be of primary importance for the types and the quality of troops each knight commands. Knights of quality may bring trained cavalrymen with them, whereas le er knights may only command a troop of peasants armed with pitchforks. There are also other considerations, as higher quality va als cost more money, and some will only work for kings with particular ranks or religious leanings.Lords of the Realm III komt in november op de markt en zal, als eerte Impre ions game, volledig in 3D zijn.
