Starship Troopers is één van de SF films die veel indruk op mij gemaakt heeft. De films was snel en zat vol met special effects . Na het boek en de film is het nu de beurt aan de game.

In 1959, Robert Heinlein wrote Starship Troopers, a novel that chronicled the heroic struggle of Earth's futuristic Mobile Infantry against the insidious Bugs. Although the novel was basically about a fascist society that was locked in conflict with the ultimate communists, the societal commentary wasn't the aspect of the book that received the most attention. Most readers -- especially adolescents -- were enthralled by the novel's description of powered armor, arguably the first time it had appeared in science fiction. With the armor that Heinlein described, a single soldier would have the offensive and defensive capabilities of a modern day tank battalion. Though the armor only appeared in a few

chapters of the book, it captured readers' imaginations, soon becoming a staple of science fiction literature. When Paul Verhoeven's motion picture adaptation arrived in theaters, critics agreed that it captured much of the spirit of the novel. Fans, however, were disappointed that the powered armor was dropped from the film due to budget constraints. Fortunately, with the upcoming release of Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy, Hasbro Interactive and Blue Tongue Software plan to create a game with the best-loved aspects of both the novel and the movie, including the powered armor.

Overall Thoughts: Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy has a lot of potential, as it is set in a rich, detailed universe. It does an excellent job of putting players in the thick of the action while still allowing them to make tactical decisions. The build that I played was entertaining, but had a few i ues with pathfinding AI and formations. If these problems are addre ed in the final version, Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy should be an excellent addition to the Starship Troopers mythos.
