De wereldberoemde detective Sherlock Holmes is weer eens uit de kast gehaald voor een nieuwe adventure game van Frogwares. In The Mystery of the Mummy moet Sherlock de moord op Lord Montcalfe onderzoeken. Volgens The Scotland Yard heeft deze heer van stand zelfmoord gepleegd, maar daar is zijn dochter niet van overtuigd. Holmes mag, zonder zijn normaal aanwezige vriend en hulp, Dr. Watson, op onderzoek gaan in dit met vallen en puzzels gevulde landhuis van Lord Montcalfe.Through first person perspective you play as Sherlock Holmes, minus sidekick Dr. Watson. You will move him around the 1920s Victorian manor through a point and click of the mouse. Six different cursors navigate you around the thirty five rooms in the manor. The main cursor is a hand holding a pipe, which changes to an open hand when he can grab an object, or a pointing finger if you can move Holmes to that location. A magnifying gla appears in the cursor's hand when the object can be zoomed in on for a closer look. At times Holmes will need objects to solve the puzzle, and therefore, a wrench will appear in the cursor's hand.De graphics zijn ruim voldoende voor dit soort spellen en het spel biedt een verslavende ervaring.
