A Sega spokesperson confirmed a Financial Times report in its Friday edition that one of the deals will be completed by the end of this year. She said that talks on similar alliances were being held with a variety of po ible partners, but declined to name them.
As the global video game busine gets more competitive, leading home video game makers are looking for other ways to make money. Some are trying to take advantage of third-generation mobile phones as the next game-distribution platform, using faster transmi ions and Internet connection speeds. In August, Sony Computer Entertainment, which produces the PlayStation2 game machine, announced it would join forces with NTT DoCoMo to develop a new network game machine service linking its game consoles and Internet-acce ible mobile phones.
Nintendo is also getting in on the action. The creator of the smash-hit Pokemon cartoons plans to launch Internet-compatible portable game consoles next year.Het is allemaal wel leuk, maar ook erg duur.
