Seaman (virtual pet) review | Gamer.nl

Na eerdere trailers deze week is er een derde trailer van No Man's Sky uitgebracht.

wow de techniek staat voor niets Let's get one thing straight right off the bat - Seaman is NOT a game. Sure, you get to move stuff around, and Seaman can die if you screw up, but it's not a game. It's an experiment. If you want to be sucked into its fantasy world, it's a "continuation of the work of Jean-Paul Ga e, French scientisty guy." If you want to be serious, it's an experiment on watching a close approximation of artificial intelligence and virtual life.

"Gameplay" consists of you watching the tank and interacting with Seaman. You work with Seaman by setting the temperature, air, light, etc.; you also SPEAK with Seaman, and he talks back to you. When you buy Seaman it comes with a microphone that plugs into the second VMU slot on your Dreamcast controller.Using that mic, you can say pretty much anything you want to good old Seaman - and believe me, he'll say pretty much anything back once he gets old enough to talk.

When you start a new game of Seaman, you are given some food pellets, the tank, and one Seaman egg which, if the conditions are right, will hatch into a bunch of little mushroomer guys that sorta look like gooey eyeballs. Given time and the proper meddling by YOU, they will eventually evolve into Seaman.

Talking to Seaman and keeping his tank well groomed will make him happy, and as long as he is happy and well fed he will continue to evolve until… well, I won't ruin it for you, but suffice it to say he's not a little fish

at the end.

The graphics are great (for what they are, anyway, I mean, it's just a fishtank and a fish with a human head) and the sound replicates a fishtank in all its glory. Seaman's voice is nearly perfect, it is just sarcastic and condescending enough to make you want to strangle him and love him at the same time. The narrator of the game is voiced-over by Leonard Nimoy, who fits the role of "logical overseer" to a tee.

Ik heb weleens gehoord van "viswijven", maar dit slaat alles .
