Activision kondigt vandaag aan dat Rome: Total War, het derde deel in de succesvolle Total War reeks, haar goldstatus heeft bereikt. Dit houdt in dat het spel klaar is en enkel nog gedrukt hoeft te worden, alvorens het in de winkels zal belanden. Voor Rome: Total War zal dat heugelijke feit op 24 september plaatsvinden.

In Rome draait het wederom om grootschalige gevechten met ma a's eenheden die je niet afzonderlijk, maar in groepen over het strijdveld verplaatst. Je kunt je groepen eenheden allerlei formaties aan laten nemen, met de bijkomende tactische voordelen van dien. De grootste vernieuwing is, naast de verplaatsing van het strijdtoneel naar het Romeinse Rijk, dat elke eenheid in het spel nu volledig in 3D wordt weergegeven. Dit zou voor zeer indrukwekkende tafereeltjes moeten zorgen.
