For those of you who have been having mouse wheel problems when playing Quake 3 Test demo I think I accidentally discovered a fix. If you alt/tab to another windows application or the desktop and then alt/tab back into the game again the mouse wheel activates. Now it and can be used to scroll through weapons as per usual.
