De Dreamcast heeft het jammerlijk niet gered tu en de andere grote consoles die op het punt van lanceren stonden, en daarom komen er nu games op andere consoles die eigenlijk voor de Dreamcast waren. Neem bijvoorbeeld Ecco the Dolphin 2; het was voor de Dreamcast, en is nu bekend gemaakt als PlayStation2 titel.

Aangezien de developpers al een tijdje met de nieuwe Ecco bezig waren, is het spel al in een vergevorderd stadium van ontwikkeling. Hierdoor zal het spel al eind dit jaar uit moeten komen in ons regenachtige landje.

Ecco the Dolphin first appeared on the Sega MegaDrive and rates as one of the finest games ever created, blending a staggering control system with eye-melting graphics, a soundtrack to die for, and the sort of challenge fair-weather gamers would break down and cry over. DC's update dragged the game into a 3D world and while the scope had changed, the immense challenge remained.

PS2 owners will now get a chance to experience the beauty and majesty of Ecco's underwater world of wonder. Scripted by cult sci-fi novelist David Brin, Ecco's journey sees the whiny mammal attempt to preserve the Earth from a maniacal phalanx of ecologically-inconsiderate aliens. Unable to hug trees and play folk tunes of the guitar, however, Ecco must swim his way to a greener, healthier Earth. It's much better than it sounds. Er is verder nog niets over de game bekend, eigenlijk alleen dat hij komt, en drie screenshotjes waarvan je er hier een ziet.
