In Shantae and the Pirate's Curse moet Shantae samenwerken met haar vijand Risky Boots. Ze heeft namelijk geen magische krachten meer, waardoor ze niet langer in een zeemeermin of aap kan veranderen. In plaats daarvan moet ze piratenwapens als kanonnen en zwaarden gebruiken.
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse moet in 2013 uitkomen. De platformreeks begon op de GameBoy Color en werd nieuw leven ingeblazen op de eShop van de Nintendo DSi, via Shantae: Risky's Revenge.
