Na het eerste berichten dat PunkBuster zou gaan stoppen met Counter-Strike is er veel gepraat over alternatieven. één van deze alternatieven moet GameGuard worden, een project tegen het online cheaten.

Op dit moment is er nog weinig over het project bekend, behalve dat ze mensen zoeken en dat het resultaat een "a simple-to-use-tool for gamers protecting them from cheaters" moet worden.
