De Britse gamingsite Computer&Videogames heeft een nieuwe roddel de lucht in gegooid. De site beweerd via insiders te hebben gehoord dat Microsoft een flink bedrag op de bankrekening van Konami heeft gestort, wat zal resulteren in het tijdelijk exclusief zijn van Metal Gear Solid 3 op de Xbox. Versies voor overige consoles komen dan waarschijnlijk nog wel, zei het een stuk later dan de Xbox versie. Ook zou de Xbox versie superieur worden aan de andere versies.

The next title in Konami's Metal Gear Solid action series has been snagged by Microsoft for an undisclosed period of Xbox exclusivity, sources have suggested. Though this would mean the title would still appear on other formats, Xbox would host the title exclusively for a period of time.

Highly placed insiders have stated that Microsoft originally tried to gain the title for Xbox outright, but when the deal fell through, Microsoft apparently splashed out enough cash to ensure it still appears on Xbox first. De Amerikaanse site The Magicbox komt echter met een nogal tegenstrijdig bericht, volgens hen is Metal Gear Solid: Substance voor de Xbox gecancelled, omdat de userbase van de console in Japan (thuishaven van Konami) te klein zou zijn.
