Hoe zou een ultrarealistische computergame spelen? Als je de feature van 3Dactionplanet zou moeten geloven zou er niet veel plezier aan te beleven zijn. Wanneer je namelijk de real-world physics zou respecteren wordt er ineens verdacht weinig mogelijk in een game.

De feature met de titel 'Physical Unrealism' geeft een leuke kijk op waarom realisme niet altijd ideaal is.Then a day or two ago, as I was walking back from dinner, I happened to look at a bench and think: "hey, that's about as high as one of the small metal crates in Deus Ex... I could go into detail about what happened next, but for the sake of my own dignity, I'll leave it at this: I was wrong. I keep myself in pretty good shape, but it's surprisingly difficult to jump two vertical feet from a standing position. I'm sure there are people who can do it, but I'm not one of them. And I doubt Gordon Freeman, Half-Life's geeky scientist hero, could do it either. Come to think of it, I don't think the average counter-terrorist could do it easily. Er zijn wel meerdere dingen die ik de gemiddelde gameheld niet na zou willen doen. Maar on the other side...
