Half-Life: Blue Shift is een nieuwe versie van het kla ieker Half-Life. Eerst zou de game alleen voor de Dreamcast uitkomen maar inmiddels is bekend gemaakt dat het spel ook gewoon op de PC zal uitkomen.

PC.Ign heeft een blik geworpen op deze nieuwe return naar de Black Mesa research facility, deze keer door de ogen van guard Barney. Het spel heeft 27 nieuwe levels, verbeterde graphics en een diepgaand verhaal.Along with the new story, levels, and game mechanics come an improvement in a couple of other areas. The biggest of these is probably be in the area of graphics. First off, the models are just way better looking than they were in the original game. Tons of polys have been added for a much smoother look that promises not to poke your eyes with the edges of the models. Some of the textures have been improved as well, notably the faces and the weapons models. But not only did the weapons get a face-lift, they also got some new sounds that should give that extra kick. The game will also come along with the Half-Life HD Pack, which will automatically upgrade all of the weapons and characters with the new high definition graphics so that you can play through the old game with nicer looks.

Het is natuurlijk maar de vraag of gamers zitten te wachten op de zoveelste return met de inmiddels verouderde Half-Life engine naar Black Mesa. Ikzelf zou liever Half-Life 2 zien verschijnen
