Gunman interview | Gamer.nl

Na eerdere trailers deze week is er een derde trailer van No Man's Sky uitgebracht.

Stomped: Gunman has had a long and varied history. Can you give us a brief summary of the history of the game?

Flower: Believe it or not, Gunman started out as a small DM MOD for Quake1. Once Q2 came out, we changed everything over, and started building the team. The project started becoming more of a single player game, and then we saw Half-Life. Although painful, we knew the best thing we could do for the project was to change engines AGAIN. At this point, we threw out most of our previous work and started re-thinking everything. We put together a very basic version and went to Seattle to visit Sierra and Valve, looking for some help to finish the project. We showed the game at the first Half-Life MOD Expo and E3, the project kept gaining momentum, and here we are.

Stomped: What was your reaction when Valve Software came in and said they wanted to release Gunman Chronicles as a full stand-alone retail game?

Flower: It was very exciting, of course. But, to me, that was the plan all along.

Stomped: Although the sci-fi setting of Gunman Chronicles seems to be standard for first person shooters, the high-tech Western angle is very different. How did you come up with this idea?

Flower: Well, I'm not much of a city guy. I live in the “wild west” and own horses. As artists, our hobbies, surroundings, and interests tend to influence our designs. And, in every way we could, we wanted to make this game as unique as po ible. The blend of influences we have, with a team comprised of people from all over the world, make that somewhat natural.

Stomped: The game is scheduled to be released at the end of the year, but there hasn't been much publicity about the game until just recently. Do you feel confident that the game will find an audience amidst all of the product that will be coming out this fall?

Flower: In this industry, it's so hard to say what will and what won't hit the charts, or how long a game will stay in the charts. And two years of publicity doesn't usually help a game that folks don't like. So, as the ones in charge of making the game, our job is clear.

Stomped: Any plans at all for extra levels and game features to be released after Gunman reaches store shelves, like Valve has done with Half Life?

Flower: Absolutely. Het kan aan mij liggen, maar die 'flower' klinkt behoorlijk arrogant:
