De Elsa GeForce2 MX, de low-budget variant van de GeForce2 zag laatst het licht. Niet alleen van de winkels, maar ook van de loep waar Firingsquad hem onder nam. De kaart bleek een uitstekende keuze als budget kaart, maar voor de die-hard presteerd hij toch echt te weinig. Hij is vergelijkbaar met de GeForce DDR qua prestaties, en verslaat zonder problemen de Matrox G450, waar hij eigenlijk de concurrent van is. Wat jammer is dat hij op SDR ram draait, en geen dual-head ondersteunt. Dingen die blijkbaar als eerste eruit werden geknipt tijdens de design.

Het prijskaartje eraan valt ook al reuze mee, rond de $120 (300,-), echter kon ik hen zo gauw niet vinden in Nederland, als iemand hem wel vind...

The GeForce2 MX isn't really geared for the hardcore performance enthusiast. Elsa's own marketing plan places it well into corporate territory. This doesn't mean you can't take advantage though. The performance of the GeForce2 MX puts it head and shoulders above its intended competition. In terms of 2D desktop work, the card functions almost as well as the corporate staple, Matrox. Gaming performance is spectacular for the price. The GeForce2 MX blows the Matrox G450 right out of the water when it comes to Quake 3 and 3DMark2000.

The only competition this card faces is from its fellow brethren. We saw this card take on a GeForce DDR and hold quite well. If we had GeForce SDR numbers, we expect that the MX would have taken the lead.
