Nintendo of America heeft bekend gemaakt dat de GameCube in de week na de prijsdaling in de VS de PS2-verkopen heeft overtroffen met 20%. Daarnaast verkocht de Cube in deze week maarliefst 145% vaker dan Microsoft's Xbox. Alleen Nintendo's andere console, de Gameboy Advance, wist stand te houden op de eerste positie. Het succes is te danken aan de aanzienlijke prijsverlaging van eind september, waardoor een GameCube nog maar $99,- kost.
