No Man's Sky uitgebracht.

The Adrenaline Vault reported on Sept. 11 that Freespace and Summoner creator Volition has gone on record stating it will not be creating another Descent sequel, suggesting that one-time sister studio might create one for publisher Interplay. Going straight to the source, we obtained comments from Outrage and Interplay on a potential sequel, and the prospects appear grim. Matt Toschlog of Outrage told us his design studio would be interested in doing one if Interplay decided to resuscitate the franchise, but with Descent III sales being so disappointing, the odds of that happening are slim.

According to figures we obtained from PC Data, Descent III has sold a mere 70,000 units to date, with the underperforming add-on selling le than 4,000 units. An Interplay public relations agent told us there is no information that indicates the game publisher is considering a sequel. The closest fans of the series came to getting one was Volition's Descent 4, which was cancelled in lieu of their first-person shooter, Red Faction.

A legend left to die...
