Morris: There are a few different types of multiplayer modes in the game. The first mode type is Style, which includes turn-based, simultaneous moves, and for the first time in a Civilization game, is turnle .

Turn-based is just like singleplayer, while Simultaneous-Move allows all the players to take their turns at the same time and all players must complete their turns prior to advancing to the next turn.

Turnle mode eliminates the waiting. If a player doesn't take his turn, or takes a long time, the clock keeps advancing and they'll just forfeit their turn. It's still turn-based in the sense that advances are researched and cities produce in turns, but no single player can hold up the game. Another set of modes are the 'meta-games'.
