EA komt met een zeer intere ant persbericht. De grootste game-uitgever ter wereld gaat namelijk het spel Freedom: the Battle for Liberty Island uitgeven voor zowel Xbox, PC als PS2. Het spel wordt ontwikkeld door IO Interactive, de Deense firma die ook al werkt aan Hitman2: Silent A asin.

Opvallend aan het spel is dat de console versies in third person zullen zijn en de PC versie vanuit first person perspectief te spelen zal zijn. Het spel speelt zich af in New York City in een alternatieve geschiedenis waar de Soviet Unie de Koude Oorlog gewonnen heeft.In a new reality where the Soviet Union won the Cold War, a fierce conflict is unfolding in America as the Red Army invades a vulnerable United States. The player takes on the role of an average citizen caught in the middle of the conflict as forces take control New York City and begin imprisoning innocent Americans, including the player's brother. With American military forces pushed out of New York City, an Underground Resistance movement in Manhattan is all that remains to retake control of the fallen city. Recruited by the Resistance, the player will rise through the ranks by succe fully completing mi ions with minimal casualties, ultimately becoming the charismatic leader of the group. Succe will largely depend on the player's ability to recruit and lead fellow New Yorkers to join in the battle, and eventually rescue his sibling and liberate the city. Het spel bestaat uit twee game-modes. Het ene deel is een turn-based plannings mode, en het andere deel gaat over tot keiharde actie die zich op straat afspeelt. Hoe dit in elkaar verweven zit in het spel is nog een raadsel, maar het concept is in elk geval origineel. De consoleversies staan gepland voor de herfst, de pc versie voor de winter. Gezien het feit dat er ook nog met man en macht aan Hitman2 gewerkt wordt lijkt me dit alleen een beetje te ambitieus, maar mi chien zijn ze er al jaren aan bezig. Lees hier het hele persbericht.
