Er gingen de laatste tijd al geruchten over het internet dat GD-Rom van de dreamcast gekraakt is. Het is nu dan ook zeker dat het mogelijk is om GD-roms te kopieren op gewone CD-roms, en deze zijn af te spelen op een Dreamcast met behulp van een speciale boot disk.So how does it work? We are not really all to sure, but we do know that the GD-ROM data is tranfered over to a basic CD-ROM disc and with the aid of a special boot disk, that CD-ROM will become playable on your Dreamcast. So far three titles have been supposedly copied using the system, they are as follows: Dead or Alive 2 , Namco's Soul Calibur and Sega's F1 World Grand Prix Racing. So far only Dead of Alive 2 has been distrubuted over the internet to Dreamcast users around the world.A group that goes by the name Utopia has created the Dreamcast CD Loader 1.1 that allows you to play Japanese Dreamcast games on United States Dreamcast's and vice-versa. The CD Loader also acts as a system disk for the Dreamcast. This system disk will allow you to acce private Sega recordable GD-ROMs of finished and unfinished games. These ROMs are there so that Sega partners can review them. This means that unfinished games as well as finished could go into circulation on the black market, although the chance of that happening is very very small.Het is nog steeds niet allemaal 100% zeker dat het gelukt is, en dan nog zal waarschijnlijk het kopieren niet zo een succes worden als op de PC, gelukkig. Maar het is wel een flinke klap voor Sega!
