Todd Hollenshead van id Software heeft in zijn .plan file bekend gemaakt dat Doom 3, na vele jaren noeste arbeid, haar goldstatus bereikt heeft. Dit houdt in dat het spel klaar is, en enkel nog gedupliceerd hoeft te worden alvorens het naar de winkel verscheept zal worden.

Het spel zal op 5 augustus in de Verenigde Staten, 6 augustus in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en waarschijnlijk ook in Nederland, of anders op 13 augustus in de winkels te vinden zijn. Todd zegt tevens dat hij graag zou zien dat jullie hier een recordaantal reacties gaan posten. Dit betekent niet dat je als een wildebras mag gaan spammen!So, the next question is release dates.
