Delta Force 3: Land Warrior interview | Gamer.nl

No Man's Sky uitgebracht.

Waar de naam Land Warrior vandaan komt:Stomped: The "Land Warrior" of the game's title refers to the U.S. Army's near future program for the foot soldier. What kinds of references and sources were used to recreate the program for the game?Eckhart: Since our subsidiary, NovaLogic Systems, is adapting Delta Force 2 as a training aid for the real Land Warrior system, we've been lucky enough to have acce to some of the military personnel who help run the program, and that's given us a better understanding of the system.Everything else has just come from reading a lot of open-source material on Land Warrior. But it's important to understand that we haven't set out to create a painstakingly accurate simulation of every aspect of the real system; our first goal is to make Delta Force: Land Warrior a fun game.Stomped: The new 3D engine for the game replaces the Voxel engine used in the two previous Delta Force games. Can your describe the features and improvements in the Land Warrior engine?Eckhart: The new engine is fully 3D accelerated -- that's the main improvement. Unlike in the first two games, we're able to use 3D hardware to draw the voxel terrain as well as the polygon-based vehicles, buildings, etc. That means we get higher resolutions and better-looking environments while still supporting the long viewing distances and long-range sniper engagements that set the first two Delta Force games apart.Delta Force: Land Warrior will require a 3D card, but we're shooting to make it work well with all major cards, from the 3Dfx Voodoo2 on up. And since we don't have to provide a software-only mode, we can do much larger, more complex interiors than we've been able to do in the previous games. Land Warrior will still be primarily a game of long-range, outdoor engagements, but we'll have some really impre ive close-quarters environments, too.
