De Romero soap is niet de enige die blijft voortduren. In console land blijven Sony en Nintendo met modder gooien. Hoewel Microsoft in de GPL (General Public License ofzo) discu ie Open Source projecten voor 'kanker-gezwel' uitmaakt heeft MS zich in deze discu ie verbazend stil gehouden. Ze laten hun console toch liever voor zich spreken.
De vice-president R&D van Sony had het volgende te zeggen, vlak nadat hij had uitgelegd hoe goed je met de PS2 kon browsen en wat voor deals ze allemaal hadden met AOL, Netscape etc:Okamoto-san: The PlayStation 2 and Xbox are closely related in terms of performance, so we're most conscious of Microsoft and their plans. Considering the level of completion of software for GameCube however, we're watching both Nintendo and Microsoft closely. We want the PlayStation 2 to be the center of entertainment in the living room, whereas the Xbox feels like an extension of the PC.
Nintendo kon natuurlijk niet achter blijven, en hadden opeens besloten dat MS nooit op tijd genoeg Xboxen kon maken. Raar dat ik me niet kan herinneren dat ze dit ooit hebben gezegd over Sony met hun PS2.
Main: Microsoft has announced November 8th as their launch date, but I don't think that's final. The GameCube will definitely launch on schedule though, and it will be a strong contender during the Christmas season. We're lining up games now, so it's just a matter of doing what we do best. Even if Microsoft manages to launch on schedule, they're targeting a different audience. Geen flames please
