Het nieuws van gisteren sloeg toch wel in als een bom. Het prachtige MMORPG project Ultima Online 2 werd gecancelled door uitgever Electronic Arts en ontwikkelaar Origin. Alhoewel verscheidene zaken die in het concept van UO2 zaten zullen worden ingevoerd in het eerste deel, willen vele fans toch dat de game standalone en in haar volle 3D glorie wordt uitgebracht.

Vandaar dat er een petitie gestart is voor de game.To: Origin Systems and Electronic Arts

After Ultima Online loyal fans retired from their years of subscribing and truly enjoying playing the game the next generation of the game came out, named Origin or Ultima Online 2. We the loyal fans of Origin want EA to know where their player base lies, in the fans of Ultima Online that will bore of the first generation game and want to move on to Ultima Online 2 which will offer a whole new set of adventures and experiences that just cannot be achieved in the current game of ultima online.

Instead Electronics arts has spent the income, generated from 230, 000 loyal fans paying $10 american a month, on other products and endeavours.

The point of THIS petition is to alert EA that the market is still in Ultima Online 2/Origin and that Ultima Online is a product that will not be able to sustain its current income. Its players are/have become bored with such an old product and are forced to jump ship and move on to other games.

We all want the Ultima Online legacy to live on, to fire all the UO2 employees and halt its production is to destroy ultima online's future!
