Dat de uitbreiding voor Westwood's Red Alert 2 meer dan een gewone uitbreiding zou gaan worden was al bekend. De in RA2 geintroduceerde bad-guy Yuri krijgt in Yuri's Revenge een eigen kamp. Het is voor het eerst dat Westwood bij een expansion een compleet nieuwe partij toevoegd aan het spel.

Naast de nieuwe partij bied het spel nog veel meer extra's waaronder de ook in Emperor: Battle For Dune aanwezige optie om met meerdere mensen 1 cooperative mi ion te spelen. The new campaign sees the Soviet and Allies cooperating to combat the threat posed by Yuri. There will fourteen mi ions in the campaign in such "exotic" locales as Seattle, San Francisco and Hollywood. To add a little international appeal players will also find themselves fighting battles in London, Transylvania and Cairo.
