Red Alert 2, was het nou echt een top titel en een waardige(?) opvolger van het eerste deel? De meningen hierover zijn toch wel wat verdeeld. WestWood gaat in ieder geval hard door met geld tellen.... euhm, met developen van hun al een eeuwigheid in ontwikkeling zijnde C&C: Renegade.
Voor de mensen die C&C: Renegade niet kennen, het is een 3d shooter in de Command & Conquer wereld. Er zitten wel wat leuke features bij. Zo kan je mi ies op verschillende manieren uitspelen (Guns blazing of een tactvoller aanpak) en ook kan je in alle units rijden die te spelen waren in Tiberian Dawn.For those who have not played Tiberian Dawn (Thats the le er known name of the original Command and Conquer), here is the main plot in a nutshell. Earth gets hit by a meteor, which contains an alien plant that we call Tiberium. While extremely poisonous and caustic, it contains many useful elements and properties that make it worthwhile for mining. A large and ancient terrorist organization known as the Brotherhood of Nod perceive this as the start of a revolution, and with the financial/material aid of Tiberium, evolve into a extremely large faction, declaring war on the good guys, the United Nations funded Global Defense Initiative.
This is where Havoc enters the picture. The worlds leading Tiberium researcher, Dr. Ignatio Mobius, is kidnapped by a Nod special unit, known as the black hand. Nod is suspected to be forcing Dr. Mobius to create new technologies with Tiberium, a Tiberium Dependant Cyborg being one of these rumored projects. As Havoc, you will need to test your skill, determination, and luck in the war against Nod, in order to save the Doctor, and the world, from Nods evil plans.
Ik moet nog maar zien of dit spel iets wordt. Het ziet er allemaal erg mooi uit, maar WestWood heeft het bij mij echt afgedaan. Jarenlang borduren ze maar voort op hun succe en van de C&C series, maar iets origineels lijkt er niet meer te komen van WestWood.
