Fox Interactive today announced plans to publish Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a game based on the popular television series, for Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation, and the PC. Scheduled for a fall 2000 release, the game will deliver the action, fighting, humor, drama, and characters from the show, Fox said in a press statement. The product will be a third-person action and adventure release in which people step into the role of Buffy Summers, a high school cheerleader during the day, and a destroyer of the undead at night. With the help of her allies and featured characters from the series, Buffy must destroy enemies with her slaying powers, martial arts, slaying senses, and healing ability. Featured will be numerous environments from the show, such as Sunnydale High School, the cemetery, the town square, the shopping mall, the Bronze nightclub, and Buffy's home. Created at The Collective, a Southern California-based studio also developing Deep Space Nine: The Fallen for Simon & Schuster, the design team will create detailed character and environment depictions from the series, Fox said. Now in its fourth season, Buffy the Vampire Slayer airs Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The WB.
