Publisher Activision has made official what developer Pandemic Studios reported Dec. 24: Battlezone II: Combat Commander has gone gold. The sequel to 1998's popular action title has been released to manufacturing and is expected to be available before the millennium at a suggested retail price of around $50. The sequel thrusts gamers into the role of a junior combat officer in the International Space Defense Force. Capturing the same unique style as its predecessor, Battlezone II allows players to control every aspect of the battlefield, including piloting futuristic vehicles, building military outpost, and leading squads of armored vehicles, infantry and aircraft into battle. Along the way, they will fight a new alien foe in a battle that spans six different worlds with diverse environments.
