EA kondigt met trots aan dat de aanvulling voor Battlefield 1942, The Road to Rome, vandaag gold gegaan is! Dit houdt in dat het spel klaar is om naar de winkels verscheept te worden. Een aangezien alle wegen naar Rome leiden zal de weg terug ook aardig snel verlopen, want reeds op 7 februari zal The Road to Rome in de winkels te vinden zijn.EA is pleased to announce that the Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome expansion pack has GONE GOLD and will begin to ship on Tuesday, February 4 in North America. The multi-player focused expansion pack will give players more of what they have grown accustomed to with the original Battlefield 1942, including more maps, more vehicles, and more fighting forces.

The Road to Rome will focus exclusively on the key, yet largely underpublicized Italian and Sicilian campaigns of WWII. Players can choose to fight on six new maps including Operation Husky (Sicily), Operation Baytown and the battles for Anzio, Salerno, Santo Croce and Monte Ca ino. Each map comes with highly detailed environments such as Italian houses, Mediterranean trees and even the ruined Monte Ca ino Monastery.

The Road to Rome zal zich, zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, concentreren op de gevechten rond Italië. Een zestal nieuwe maps, een aantal nieuwe voertuigen en wapens en natuurlijk vele uren spelplezier staan op je te wachten. Niet dat we al uitgekeken waren op Battlefield 1942, maar deze maps kunnen er zeker nog wel bij!
