The company shipped 1.4 million units at the end of March, and it shipped an additional 600,000 units within the first half of April. This number of units sold surpasses Sega Dreamcast sales, which total 1.52 million in Japan. The PlayStation2 now falls into third place, following the Sony PlayStation in first place with 14.21 million units shipped in Japan and the Nintendo 64 in second place with 5.32 million units shipped in Japan.
