Spore is de grote winnaar bij de E3 Game Critics Awards 2005, de benoeming van de beste games op de 2005-editie van de grootste gamebeurs ter wereld, de E3. Het nieuwe geesteskindje van Will Wright ging er onder andere met de 'Best of the Show' award vandoor, alsook 'Best Original Game', 'Best PC Game' en 'Best Simulation Game'. Ook The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Prince viel tot twee keer toe in de prijzen, namelijk voor 'Best Console Game' en 'Best Action/Adventure Game'.
