De Amerikaanse site Electronic Playground zegt te weten dat de Japanse developper Enix een Gamecube versie van hun populaire franchise Dragon Warrior sterk in overweging heeft.

Enix heeft het echter niet makkelijk, ook Sony wil graag dat Enix voor de PlayStation2 gaat ontwikkelen, en MicroSoft kennende gaan zij ook flink met Yens zwaaien om Enix zover te krijgen om Xbox support te gaan verzorgen.

Enix wordt over het algemeen beschouwd als een erg belangrijke developper om 'er bij' te hebben; omdat vooral de Japanse markt erg graag Dragon Warrior speelt. As we reported earlier this year, Enix is seriously considering making its next Dragon Warrior title for the GameCube, but Microsoft and Sony are also courting Enix very hard. Even though officials were attending SpaceWorld, they would only say that they are considering a number of offers, but they will be continuing to bring their titles to the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. Sources close to Nintendo confirmed though that a version of Dragon Warrior is in development and will be released some time in the next 24 months.

Enix support for GameCube (especially if its exclusive) has the potential of launching GameCube into the Japanese stratosphere.
