Na KISS: Psycho Circus en de extra levels van No One Lives Forever was het geen moeilijke keuze meer voor Fox Interactive om Third Law Interactive te vragen om de uitbreiding te maken van Aliens vs. Predator 2. Primal Hunt speelt zich 500 jaar voor het origineel af. Weer op de planeet LV1201, waar de predator al eeuwen jaagt voordat de mens voet aan land zet. De predator vindt in de ruines op de planeet een voorwerp dat de Aliens op afstand houdt. Vanaf dit moment mag de speler het overnemen. Paul Pawlicki - For starters we brought back a server option from the original AVP that we really liked that limits the types of weapons to be used in multiplayer. If you don't' like the Predator Disc or the Flamethrower then don't allow it in the game. Then there is the Predator self-destruct. If you are a Predator and you're health is low enough you can set the self-destruct timer, laugh a bit and take out the people that are in your immediate vicinity. We plan to do some balancing to the weapons too. Flamethrower and Shoulder Cannon are prime candidates for some tweaking.

As for the maps, ALL of the original maps from AVP2 plus the 4 new maps that are included with Primal Hunt are playable with the expansion pack features and balancing.
