Call of Duty was een van de grootste PC titels van vorig jaar en het spel haalde dan ook talloze awards en prijzen binnen. En ook Activision volgt het oud Nederlandsche gezegde van "succes is er om uitgemolken te worden," want in de herfst van dit jaar zou de uitbreiding Call of Duty: United Offensive moeten verschijnen. Veteraan Gray Matter heeft de zware taak op zich genomen om een waardige uitbreiding van het origineel te maken. Deze avond zijn er maar liefst 3 previews van Call of Duty: United Offensive verschenen.

GameSpot is van mening dat de 3 nieuwe multiplayer modes, 10 nieuwe maps en de dertien mi ies tellende singleplayer campaign bijna een volledig nieuw spel zijn.Gamespy was zeer te spreken over de actie en de aanwezige voertuigen.En ook IGN is zeer te spreken over wat ze tot nu toe gezien hebben.Like the single-player campaign in the previous game, United Offensive's single-player campaign is split into thirds between British, American, and Ru ian forces, and these parts will focus on the invasion of Sicily, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Battle of Kursk, respectively. We took a look at two previously unseen mi ions, one each from the American and British campaigns. In the American mi ion, the 101st Airborne attempted to move into the village of Noville against heavy German resistance, aided by an AI-controlled tank that did considerable damage to enemy forces before being taken out. This mi ion primarily involved house-to-house fighting in tight quarters and showed off several scripted action sequences. In one part, the player and some of his allies were sealed in a cellar and had to blast their way out with explosives to rejoin the combat.
