nVidia heeft vandaag bekend gemaakt dat zij als hoofdsponsor zal fungeren van de Electronic Sports World Cup. Naar eigen zeggen past de sponsoring van de ESWC goed bij haar "The way it is meant to be played" campagne en hoopt nVidia de deelnemers aan het toernooi goede en stabiele performance te bieden. "NVIDIA's market presence and track record for solid graphics products makes them the platform of choice for the gaming community," said Matthieu Dallon, CEO of Ligarena. "For this reason, we are delighted to welcome NVIDIA as the main sponsor of our worldwide tournament."

De Electronic Sports World Cup is een toernooi dat als doel heeft om het beste team van gamers ter wereld te vinden, iets waarvoor populaire games als Counterstrike, Warcraft III en Quake III gebruikt zullen worden. Het komende half jaar zullen er in meer dan 50 landen nationale voorrondes worden gehouden, waarna in juli in het Franse Futuruscope de 500 overgebleven deelnemers een gooi naar de eindoverwinning zullen doen.
