Vlak na de E3 wisten we je al te melden dat er naast de vele onofficiele awards voor de E3 ook de E3 2002 Game Critics Awards zijn. Nu is toch eindelijk bekend geworden welke games volgens de pers, vakmensen en andere organisaties de beste indruk hebben gemaakt.

Niet geheel onverwachts gaat Doom III naar huis met maar liefst 5 awards, te weten Best of Show, Best PC Game en Best Action Game categorieen, daarnaast heeft het spel prijzen gewonnen voor Sound en Graphics. De beste consolegame is The Legend of Zelda, welke ook de runner-up is van Best of Show.Among the quality games on display from the maturing console systems the PC stood loud and proud. Highlighting the monumental improvement in graphical fidelity, and gameplay manipulation of that technology, Doom III stood loud and proud. With fewer PC titles, the quality of those on display was impre ively high, but Doom III dominated the buzz among onlookers. From the eerie shadowed corridors to the terror of seeing hell's monstrosities in the mirror it was a display not to be forgotten.
