Na Throne of Bhaal, de uitbreiding voor Baldur's Gate 2, en met Pool of Radiance 2 in het vooruitzicht is alweer een goede RPG voor de liefhebber uitgekomen. Arcanum is de nieuwe RPG van Troika Games. Dit team bestaat uit vele mensen die ooit aan het huzarenstukje van de RPG "Fallout" hebben meegewerkt. Arcanum zou dan ook vele overeenkomsten hebben met de Fallout serie, maar zich onderscheiden in de spelwereld, die helemaal opnieuw bedacht is. Voodoo Extreme kreeg de review copy te pakken en schreef, jawel, een review. Arcanum is a fantasy world unlike most – there are two distinct sides to the world: technology and magick. These two sides are at opposite ends of the spectrum and cannot peacefully exist in the same space as one another – the aura of magick in the same room as a steam engine or generator can produce disastrous, and often deadly effects. (...)While not the best RPG to date or even perfect, Arcanum is just an extremely entertaining game. It can be frustrating at times, but with things like a built in world editor for making your own cities and multiplayer capabilities, Arcanum offers so much that it's conceivable you could play this game for years to come. Best of all, you'd want to play the game for years to come because it's very well done – the unique world of Arcanum is sure to become a hit with gamers acro the globe and satisfy RPG fans. Here's to an expansion or sequel – the world of Arcanum deserves it.

Hoewel cijfers weinig zeggen, is 87% voor deze game toch wel erg goed. Zeker de multiplayer optie en de mogelijkheid om zelf werelden te bouwen lijken de speerpunten van dit spel.
